Teaching a family yoga class full of families of all ages is both fun and challenging.
I try to make the class as accessible as possible this is why the age range is varied (rising 3-10yrs). We want all the family to be able to come along and have fun doing yoga together even the grandparents!!
So many are unclear what family yoga is like, many adults can’t even begin to think how you would practise yoga in the same class as their kids. What if my child started speaking in class?! It would ruin the relaxation part……I was teaching a class in a bikram yoga studio and one of the parents walked in with her 3 year old, She came up to me and said is it bikram yoga style yoga today? …..for those who don’t know what Bikram yoga is : Yoga practiced in a room heated to 35–42 °C.......
Family Yoga is so AWESOME! In a world where parents and children are so busy, family yoga provides a wonderful place to spend healthy and happy, quality time together.
Come and practise yoga together and strengthen your bonds while you support each other and have fun! I run sessions once a month (normally at the end of the month)
My first ever family yoga class was such a wonderful experience to be a part of. During the relaxation at the very end of class I could feel myself getting really emotional. Siblings holding hands, parents cuddling, a family of 4 all snuggling together. Was such a beautiful experience.
There are not many activities where child and parent can really bond together like family yoga. The class is full of exciting poses and activities.
I love to theme my workshops we have previously had jungle, antarctic and space. I theme the poses, games, props and music and even my leggings!
What is the normal layout of the class?
The class always starts with a fun energetic warm and a few breathing exercises.
